Open Calls

This page provides an overview of relevant calls where space assets could make a contribution. The calls, coming from within the space community as well as outside of it, are listed under different categories according to their sector of interest.

In line with Eurisy’s mission, the aim of this page is to inspire downstream space companies to tackle wider societal challenges. Eurisy has been working since long on the development of different thematic areas, stimulating the uptake of satellite applications to enhance efficiency, sustainability and quality of life in Europe and beyond. Following the topics currently under our radar, we provide an overview of relevant calls for the deployment of satellite-based innovation and solutions in a number of sectors.

The first EUSPA Horizon Europe calls are open for submissions with a deadline of 16 February 2022, with an overall budget of 32.6 million euro for the development of innovative space downstream applications!

The first Call is structured in the following 3 topics:

Furthermore, the use of EGNSS and Copernicus is widely anchored in concrete calls with over 100 non-space topics recommending or requiring the use of Galileo, EGNOS and Copernicus:

Scout for opportunities

  • Find potential calls for your organisation and activities
  • Non-exhaustive list of relevant calls where satellite data can apply
  • Bringing funding and innovation calls closer to the European space community
  • Categorised under different thematics (Cities, Culture, Maritime, Health, Environment, and Rural)

Space4Cities

Eurisy has raised awareness on cities success stories through communication campaigns and workshops, allowing local administrations and stakeholders to share their experiences, assess their needs and inform them of funding and support opportunities to use satellite-based services.

The so-called Blue Growth is, for Europe, a source of welfare and well-being. In this sense, the Blue Growth is extrinsically related to the potential of Europe’s seas and coasts to develop a blue sustainable economy. Blue Growth is defined as a long-term strategy that aims at supporting growth in the marine and maritime sectors.

Space4Environment

Climate change has become the biggest challenge of our time. Glaciers are melting, sea levels are rising and natural disasters occur more frequently and ferociously. Scientists and governments are looking for solutions to stop the deterioration of the environment. However, a high degree of uncertainty still lingers behind the various predictions and underlying research. Space has a vital and often unique role to play in this setting.

Sports and fitness – smart wearables: Wearables represent the beginning of the separation between smartphones and end users, as an increasing number of smartphone services and apps are now accessible via new interfaces (smartwatches, fitness trackers, smart glasses, clothing, etc.). Currently, wearables are mostly used for fitness, health and entertainment. Proposals should ensure the use of EGNSS innovative features and differentiators in the smart wearables domain, integrating also other non-space technologies.
