About GEO-Academy
GEO‑Academy is an European Erasmus+ Teacher Academy initiative running from 2023 to 2026. It builds a network and community of practice that equips both in‑service and pre‑service teachers with digital, green, and spatial skills through cutting‑edge geospatial technologies such as GIS, Remote Sensing, Earth Observation, and geospatial storytelling, all aimed at strengthening Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in classrooms across Europe.
The conference opens on Monday, 27 April 2026 with a series of keynote talks and project results and presentation that set the scene for GEO‑Academy’s mission and impact. Keynotes include the project presentation, its importance, and policy insights on future educational competencies.
Day 2 – From Practice to Impact: This day is focused on practical teaching and peer learning. It features two panels:
-
“Transforming Teaching Practices: From GEO‑Academy Training to Classroom Impact”, which explores how teachers apply GEO‑Academy materials in their classrooms, develop educational resources, and integrate Earth observation and geospatial technologies into curricula.
-
Roundtables on Key Challenges and Opportunities, including teacher training & professional development, curriculum integration & institutional support, sustainability, and post-project collaboration.
Teachers will also present their best practices in dedicated sessions, sharing real classroom experiences, and the winner of the SPOTIN competition will give a special presentation, outlining actionable steps and innovative ideas for the wider teaching community.
