Below you will find a small selection of the next EU calls which could be considered when discussing new energy project ideas:

Enhancing the capacity of public authorities to plan and implement sustainable energy policies and measures (deadline 5 July 2014 and 10 July 2015)

– Proposals empowering public authorities to plan, finance and implement ambitious sustainable energy policies and plans (for instance under the Covenant of Mayors initiative), on the basis of reliable data and analyses

Potential use of satellite applications: data- and geo-location-driven web portal and smartphone apps on sustainable energy resources (hydro, wind, biomass, solar)

 Improving the finance ability and attractiveness of sustainable energy investments (deadline 5 July 2014 and 10 July 2015)

– project proposals and activities should foster dialogue with and between financial market actors, standardisation and valuation entities, industry, public authorities, consumers and property owners. They should lead to development of new business models and financial products, ensuring synergies of public and private finance.

Potential use of satellite applications (idem above): data- and geo-location-driven web portal and smartphone apps on sustainable energy resources (hydro, wind, biomass, solar)

New ICT-based solutions for energy efficiency (deadline 5 July 2014 and 6 July 2015)

– To motivate and support citizen’s behavioural change to achieve greater energy efficiency taking advantage of ICT (e.g. personalised data driven applications, gaming and social networking) while ensuring energy savings from this new ICT-enabled solutions are greater than the cost for the provision of the services.

Potential use of satellite application: satellite data + satnav-based smartphone and web apps

Smart Cities and Communities solutions integrating energy, transport, ICT sectors through lighthouse (large scale demonstration – first of the kind) projects(deadline 3 March 2015)

– To identify, develop and deploy replicable, balanced and integrated solutions in the energy, transport, and ICT actions through partnerships between municipalities and industries

Potential use of satellite application: integration of satnav transport applications + smartphone apps + satellite info on energy efficiency to shape public behaviour etc)
