Satellite-based Services for Disaster Risk Management- Greece session

EUSPA together with Eurisy, in cooperation with the Greek Ministry for Climate Crisis and Civil Protection and Ministry of Digital Governance, on May 25th 2022, organised the first national workshop dedicated to satellite-based service for disaster risk management. It aimed at presenting operational satellite-based services for disaster risk management at national level. Early adopters and relevant authorities showcased the challenges and benefits stemming from the integration and use of satellite-based applications. The presentations of the event can be found here.

A report of the first national workshop held in Athens (Greece) provides the reader with the highlights and main outcomes of the event. The report is available here for download.

At the margins of the workshop a Search and Rescue SaR exercise can be organised.

The video showcase the example of the ground-breaking Galileo Return Link Service (RLS), part of the Galileo SAR service. Thanks to the RLS, sailors in distress, when equipped with the appropriate beacon, will see a light verifying that their distress signal has been received by emergency first responders and that their location has been established.
