Eurisy General Assembly 2025

On 30 June 2025, Eurisy held its annual General Assembly, a moment to reconnect the community for an afternoon of reflection on recent achievements and discussions on the association’s future direction.

Members gathered online and in person at the HQ of Xjenza Malta in Kalkara (Malta) after the first day of the Big Data: Space Solutions for Society event.

A key highlight of the Assembly was the official presentation of the Eurisy Activity Report 2024-2025, which outlines the major initiatives undertaken over the past year, showcasing our collaborations with members and partners, and the growing impact of our communication and outreach efforts.

We spotlighted three major new projects launched in the past year:

  •  A study developed in collaboration with the European Space Agency on accelerating the use of space solutions;
  • The launch of the Geospatial Tools for Cities Focus Group, part of the Smart Cities Marketplace of the European Commission;
  • A study on the user uptake of the Copernicus Marine Service, conducted in partnership with Mercator Ocean.

Over the past year, Eurisy’s activities, events, and projects reached a wide and diverse audience. Analytics show continued growth in our community, driven by the success of our events and the strong performance of our communication campaigns across social media and our website.

One of the most visited pages on our website in the past year, was a success story about how the Greek Ministry of Environment leveraged the space-based service FireHub—a service which is also supported by two Eurisy members, the BEYOND Centre of EO Research & Satellite Remote Sensing and EUMETSAT.

Notably, traffic to this page spiked in mid to late August 2024, aligning with the devastating wildfires in Greece’s Attica region. This surge likely reflects a growing public awareness of the role space technologies can play in disaster response and resilience—and for Eurisy, it signals a meaningful rise in public interest in this critical topic and a motivation to continue focusing on sharing Success Stories.

The General Assembly provided a valuable opportunity for the community to connect, exchange national perspectives, showcase projects, and gather insights—fostering dialogue that could inspire future collaborations and new acitivities.

We officially welcomed back the Northern Ireland Space Office as Eurisy members, reconnecting our communities with great projects for the future.

The day concluded with a group cultural visit to the ancient city of Mdina, nestled in the heart of the island, where Eurisy members and partners continued their conversations along the historic walls, bathed in the warm glow of the setting sun.
