Eurisy supported the ESA Acceleration Days: Accelerate Space Weather Resilience Hackhaton

From 23 to 25 June 2025, Eurisy supported the three-day “Accelerate Space Weather Resilience” hackathon, held under the umbrella of the new ESA Acceleration Days. The event took place at ESA’s European Space Operations Centre (ESOC) in Darmstadt, the organisation’s mission control hub. Multidisciplinary teams gathered to develop innovative solutions using space weather data to enhance spacecraft operations.
Eurisy contributed as a facilitator, helping guide participants through the dynamic and fast-paced hackathon environment. The event brought together 32 students and early-career professionals from across Europe to work on creative applications of near real-time space weather data. The goal was to develop tools that enhance the resilience and safety of spacecraft and other critical infrastructure.
Using data from the ESA Space Weather portal (https://swe.ssa.esa.int), the teams were supported by expert mentors—including ESA mission operators, SES Satellites representatives, and Eurisy’s experts. While all teams presented strong ideas, the winning team stood out by delivering a tailor-made application that provides actionable early warnings to support rapid decision-making for satellite operators.

Eurisy looks forward to continuing its support for the upcoming ESA Acceleration Days. In September 2025, the “Accelerate Urban Green Transition” innovation sprint will take place in Brussels, focusing on the use of AI and space-based data to support sustainable urban development. This will be followed by the “Accelerate Crisis Preparedness” sprint in October in Redu, Belgium, aimed at improving readiness for mass evacuations during planned events and emergencies through the use of space technologies.
