Eurisy appointed as Participating Organisation of the GEO Programme Board

We are delighted to announce that Eurisy is now a member of the Group on Earth Observation (GEO) Programme Board. As a Participating Organisation to the GEO Programme Board, Eurisy seeks to influence technical and policy decisions and to contribute to the GEO Work Programme. Through participation in the GEO Plenary and Programme Board, Eurisy will benefit from the global community of Earth observation experts to learn from and share knowledge in the areas of the GEO engagement priorities, namely regarding climate change, disaster risk reduction and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The road ahead for the democratisation of space

Last October, Eurisy participated in the United Nations/International Astronautical Federation Workshop on Space Technology for Socio-Economic Benefits: "Ensuring Inclusiveness through Space-based Applications and Space Exploration". The workshop- organised in conjunction with the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) taking place in Washington DC this year, had as a main objective the idea of providing insights on how space applications contribute to empowering people and ensuring inclusiveness and equality, demonstrating that space applications can help achieve the SDGs.

Eurisy Members’ Day 2018 in Rabat Highlights

Every year Eurisy Members gather for a full day to learn more about what Eurisy achieved during the year and to discuss future activities. The Members’ Day represents also an opportunity for the members to network and exchange views on space applications and initiatives around Europe. This year it was hosted by the Moroccan Centre Royal de Télédétection Spatiale (CRTS) which welcomed the team and member representatives on 7 December in the charming city of Rabat.

Moving from society’s awareness of space to space’s awareness of society: UNISPACE +50 and the Space Generation Forum 2.0

In June Eurisy team spent a full, intense and enriching week in Vienna where we attended two anniversaries: the Space Generation Forum 2.0 organised by the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) and the UNISPACE+50 Conference organised by the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA).
